About Us

St. Basil's Syriac Orthodox Church, Cleveland, Ohio is part of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in North America. HE Mor Titus Yeldho is the Archbishop & Patriarchal Vicar. The Archdiocese is under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of His Holiness the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church.

Our church also maintains its association with the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church in Kerala, our home church, that is headed by His Beatitude Baselios Thomas 1, Catholicose and Maphrian of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church. This church is headquartered in Puthencruz, Ernakulam District, in Kerala, India.

Our Church services are held primarily in Malayalam, a vernacular language used by people from Kerala State, India. The liturgy is interspersed with Syriac language, a dialect of Aramaic spoken by Lord Jesus, as the Liturgical language along with English. We have plans to conduct the services occasionally in English to cater to those who do not know Malayalam.
